Empty Nesting Animals

Are you an Empty Nester or perhaps just one chick down?  Either way, it’s a time of change in the family dynamics and often not in the way anticipated.  Our first chick flew off to Liverpool in September of last year amid great excitement, planning and packing.  OK, the accommodation was awful when we arrived but a few posters, a couple of strategically placed lamps and a few treasures from home soon made the barren, cream painted breeze blocked room seem cheerier. It’s All In My Cancerian Stars – Yes, Really!

I had a fascinating session with astrologer Sally Kirkman  today when she revealed what’s in the Stars for me and, more spectacularly, identified some major happenings which had been predicted by the Heavens.  Frankly, I’m amazed.   Let me explain. In an earlier blog I mentioned a near-death experience in 2007.  Details are too gorey to reveal but let’s just say necrotic and gangrenous bowel and abdominal wall featured heavily in the story to give a flavour of what went on.  Well (said in […] Read more »

Grieve And Then Let Go…

I’m procrastinating.  There’s something I have to do which I started but haven’t yet found the strength to complete.  It will be the end, a final amen. But time does heal, you know?  Recently, I went through some boxes of things which belonged to Mum and Dad and which have been in storage for years.  The first time I looked at them, I was unable to part with anything as every single item held such fond memories.  Last time I went,  I found something I’d been looking for and was able to allocate other […] Read more »

Five Things You Don’t Know About Me…

I’m enjoying membership of a blogging group at the moment which is encouraging me to dust off the quill and start writing again. Just for fun, we’re each revealing five things about ourselves which nobody knows – truthfully, I’d almost forgotten them myself!  So, having trawled through the decades, here goes: 1.  I was once the Under 5s Junior Shark Fishing Champion.  Yes, you did read that correctly.  As a child born to military nomads, we spent  our early years living in foreign lands.  […] Read more »

Seizing The Moment

‘Seize The Moment’, they say!  Yesterday I did.  The seed was sown the day before as I queued in our little post office, no larger than a small lounge (think that’s what it used to be), as we coiled around in ever decreasing circles, just to get everyone in from the cold.  Two post ladies fought bravely to serve us, hindered by two Internet salesmen (I suspected), as they passed an endless stream of identical parcels to our heroines.  Digressing slightly, I must say we […] Read more »

Choice, Change, Action!

Remember the old classic: “Love is all around me, it’s everywhere I go,  I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes,  the love that’s all around me, and so the feeling grows . . .”  Reg Presley, who wrote that wonderful song, wrote from the heart not knowing his words would touch so many all around the world.  It’s an interesting concept that our thoughts and actions reach far beyond our immediate field and influence in ways […] Read more »

Thanks for coming over…

Hi, I’m Janet Swift and I’m really pleased you’ve dropped in!  Are you enjoying a sun-filled day when all’s right in your world?  Great if you are but, if not, you’ve come to the right place.  We all have times when we feel ‘off balance’ and overwhelmed by life’s challenges.  The emotional rollercoaster that is ‘life’ can deliver great happiness but also acute emotional pain and suffering.  How boring  life would be if everything was monochrome. One thing I can […] Read more »
