In Celebration Of Ourselves

stones

I’m amazed.  I’m thankful.  I’m grateful.  Are you? You see, I spent most of yesterday lying flat and thinking.  Lying flat because I’d had cerebral spinal fluid drained off to reduce the pressure within my skull.  Thankful because although the pressure was over 100% higher than it should have been, my body continued to function, maintaining my mental acuity.  (Here I admit to being told I’ve been a bit picky recently but, being Cancerian, I prefer to think it was […] Read more »

Margaret Made A Difference

Margaret Thatcher

Grocer’s daughter, mother of twins, research chemist, lawyer, politician.  Any one of those might be enough to fill a lifetime.  So what ‘ingredient X’ fired the drive and achievements of this lady?  You see, love her or hate her, the fact is she changed the world – yes, world – during her sojourn here on earth. Of all the coverage I heard yesterday, one sentence registered in my mind in big red capitals, something Mrs Thatcher said in an interview: […] Read more »

Angels In White Coats

NHSangels

Changes to the NHS are very topical at the moment and, sure, there’s much that needs to change.  If you were to be with me at 11.20am on Wednesday this week, you’d be in theatre watching the hands of an angel (and I’ve told her she has them, many times!), expertly guiding a needle between my vertebrae without touching my spinal cord, conducting a therapeutic lumbar puncture by draining off some cerebral spinal fluid.  I’ve been through this procedure so […] Read more »

Life-Changing Lift Off!

Rocketandme

Realising I was realising a dream without really realising it, if you’re still with me, was exciting.  In pursuing the opportunities Life offered, I’d unconsciously adjusted my default setting to travel which thrills me and is on my Universal wishlist.  My Mother said we had a little gypsy in our souls and so we do. Just nine days after the Venice venture, I was off to Orlando for a conference.  Weather was comfortably warm and humidity low – I always find that a […] Read more »

Venice Dream Delivered. . .

Gondola

Isn’t it wonderful when someone’s dream comes true especially when, with a little help from the ever-abundant Universe, you helped make it a reality?  So it was with our trip to Venice.  Daughter had longed to go there and I’d thought it’d be lovely to mark her 21st birthday by whisking her away as a surprise.  Piggy bank problems prevented planning but, deep inside, I held the thought.   I’m comfortable with 11th hour, 59th minute and 59th second solutions so, just a week before […] Read more »

Change, Travel and Adventure

change switch

It’s great to be back after the exciting changes and adventures of the last few months.  I was surprised by how quckly time’s whizzed by since I told you about the book I’m writing. Something struck me this morning which, although blindingly obvious, had slipped through my mental processing unit.  I don’t think it’s an age related error but this possibility can’t be ruled out since I sometimes find myself standing in front of the freezer willing my mind to inform me what I’m […] Read more »
